First and foremost, we are a faith community that embraces an historic identity as evangelical catholic. This means that we hold to the Good News of Holy Scripture that tells us that God has reconciled humankind to Himself in the cross and empty grave of His Son, Jesus of Nazareth. It also means that we acknowledge that this faith is given to us as a free gift by our loving God.
As a community of Lutheran Christians, we hold to the great truths of the Reformation - Grace Alone! Faith Alone! Scripture Alone! We are one of several Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) congregations in Ann Arbor. To learn more about our Synod, please click here.
Our members come from next door and a block over -- and from neighboring communities such as Ypsilanti, Northfield Township, Dexter, Chelsea, and Saline.
We enjoy worship and Bible study together - more than half of our morning worship attendees also attend Sunday School or Sunday morning Bible class.
We are adjacent to the University of Michigan's North Campus area. Eastern Michigan University is only minutes away - south and east of our church campus. Concordia Univeristy - Ann Arbor and Cooley Law School are close by, and we regularly welcome students, potential students and their families.
We are small enough to meet all together for monthly game nights, occasional potlucks and bowling afternoons, and for our annual Chinese New Year celebration, Easter brunch, and Thanksgiving dinner.
We also enjoy meeting together in small groups like Choir; Monday Morning Bible study; Senior lunches and outings; Youth Group outings and service projects; and an active knitting and crocheting ministry.
Our members are committed to serving our community and are encouraged to pursue individual outreach in their daily lives and through volunteering. Our members lead nursing home worship services, rock babies in hospitals, deliver Meals on Wheels, teach English as a second language; and volunteer as ESL conversation partners.
Together we reach out to our community and our world by raising money for special projects; collecting food for community foodbanks; knitting and crocheting for the sick, elderly, disadvantaged, as well as our nation's service men and women deployed in northern Iraq and Afghanistan; and volunteering and walking with Crop Walk.
